At Ladies First Driving School, our aim is to provide a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment. To ensure fairness, safety, and clarity, all pupils enrolled on an Intensive Driving Course (with test booking) must follow the policies below.
✔️ Pupils must hold a valid UK provisional driving licence.
✔️ Pupils should be able to read a car number plate at 20 metres (with glasses/contact lenses if needed).
✔️ Pupils must disclose any relevant medical conditions or disabilities that may affect driving.
✅ All intensive driving courses include::
A set number of driving hours (e.g. 20, 30, or 40 hours depending on the package chosen).
Booking of the DVSA practical driving test on behalf of the pupil.
Use of the driving school car for the test (subject to the pupil being test-ready).
The DVSA test fee is included in the course price.
Driving tests are booked at the test centre nearest to the pupil’s postcode.
DVSA waiting times for driving tests are typically 12–16 weeks. While we always aim for the earliest available date, test availability is controlled by the DVSA.
Once your booking has been confirmed, your allocated instructor will contact you within 5 working days to arrange and confirm your lesson schedule.
Pupils must read and agree to the Terms & Conditions before starting the course or confirming lesson/test dates and times.
✔️ A deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your course.
✔️Full payment must be made at least 14 days before the course start date.
✔️Deposits and course fees are non-refundable once the course has commenced.
✔️ 50% refund if cancellation is made 4 weeks or more before the course start date.
✔️ No refund will be issued if: The course has started, or The DVSA practical driving test has been booked, or Cancellation is made with less than 4 weeks’ notice.
✔️ If the instructor cancels due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. illness, vehicle issues), lessons will be rescheduled at no extra cost.
✔️ If the DVSA cancels or reschedules a driving test, Ladies First Driving School cannot be held responsible, but we will assist in re-booking.
✔️ Intensive courses are structured to provide multiple hours of driving each day.
✔️ Pupils are expected to attend all scheduled lessons promptly.
✔️ Breaks will be included in longer sessions for safety and concentration.
✔️ The school car will be made available for the practical test only if the instructor deems the pupil test-ready.
✔️ If the pupil is not test-ready, the test may be postponed in consultation with the pupil.
✔️ Pupils must arrive on time and fit to drive. Arriving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that impairs driving will result in cancellation with no refund.
✔️ Pupils must bring their provisional licence to all lessons and the driving test.
✔️ Any abusive, aggressive, or unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in termination of the course without refund.
✔️All lessons will be conducted by a DVSA-approved driving instructor.
✔️ Vehicles will be fully insured, roadworthy, and fitted with dual controls for safety.
✔️ Instructors will provide honest feedback and guidance to help pupils reach test standard.
✅ Our refund terms are designed to be fair and transparent:
✔️ 50% refund if cancellation is made 4 weeks or more before the course start date.
✔️ No refund once the course has started, once the test has been booked, or if cancellation is made with less than 4 weeks’ notice.
✅ Reasons for This Policy
✔️ Instructor Allocation – Intensive courses require instructors to block out large sections of their diary (often a month or more). Once allocated, this time cannot easily be replaced.
✔️ Driving Test Booking – The DVSA test is booked as part of your package, and the test fee is non-refundable once paid. Cancelling means wasted resources for the DVSA and our school.
✔️ Time & Planning – Intensive schedules take considerable time to arrange. Cancelling disrupts this planning and results in lost availability that cannot be reassigned.
✅ Legal Compliance
This policy is fully compliant with UK Consumer Law (Consumer Rights Act 2015 & Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013):
✔️ Driving lessons are classed as a service.
✔️ By booking and agreeing to an intensive course with a test, you agree that once the service has started or the test has been booked, your statutory right to a full refund under the 14-day cooling-off period no longer applies.
✔️ This is permitted in law, as businesses may withhold refunds once a service has been provided in part or in full.
✔️ Ladies First Driving School cannot be held responsible for driving test cancellations made by the DVSA.
✔️ We are not liable for any loss of earnings, travel costs, or other expenses due to lesson or test cancellations beyond our control.
✨ Our intensive courses are designed to give you the skills and confidence to pass your test and become a safe, independent driver — with everything, including the test booking, handled for you. ✨
Please note that this policy is subject to change at any time without prior notice. We reserve the right to update or modify our policies as needed.
